A key tenet of Kali's beliefs is that low profile helmets are safer, as they reduce the rotational forces visited upon the brain in a crash: low profile helmets will slide where a bigger profile helmet will catch, but your brain keeps moving until it hits your skull. Further decreasing your chances of sustaining a concussion are the assemblage of green ArmourGel strips that Kali calls the LDL, or Low Density Layer. The strips are made of small deformable cups which compress or shift in an impact, making the helmet more effective in low-force impacts that typical EPS foam is too stiff for. Kali claims LDL is up to 30% more effective than MIPS at reducing rotational forces, and greatly reduces the chance of severe concussion in all circumstances.
